Support Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies
The world needs leaders, innovators, thinkers and doers. The world needs problem solvers and global citizens that will confront the challenges and opportunities ahead. Our alumni and donors play an integral role in ensuring our remarkable students are able to receive a world-class University of Saskatchewan education and become the next generation of leaders, professionals, and community members the world needs.
Department Priorities
We are striving to inspire students to succeed by investing in tomorrow’s thinkers and creators. We are seeking the critical philanthropic support needed to reach new levels of excellence in each of these areas for the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies.
Undergraduate Student Awards
We are seeking philanthropic support to increase the number of scholarships and bursaries available to support our undergraduate students.
Together, we will create need-based bursaries to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to realize their full potential. Removing financial obstacles will provide access to a USask education for scores of students who could otherwise not afford to attend.
New merit-based scholarships will reward academic achievement. Scholarships are our best opportunity to recruit the most promising students who will go on to change the world. Only you can make this happen.
Graduate Research Fellowships
Graduate students are researchers and scholars with the skills to make major contributions to their fields. Graduate fellowships allow us to attract the most promising students whose research will change the world. Your support will expand our graduate research fellowships and help train the next generation of researchers, teachers, innovators and thought leaders.

I am deeply honoured to receive this scholarship – it is truly meaningful to be chosen among all of the other hardworking and eligible students. My culture is something I am passionate about preserving and celebrating, and to earn recognition and support in this area, as well as my whole post-secondary experience, is extraordinary.
The financial aid this scholarship provides will allow me to focus on my education without excessive preoccupation with money – something that everybody is deserving of. I can continue prioritizing the drive and excellence I value in my studies, with increased motivation. This selfless donation benefits me greatly both in and out of school. In my personal life alongside academics, I will be better able to devote my time to campus engagements, as well as dedicating myself to my family and Orthodox Christian faith – foundations in my life I’d be lost without. There is great gratification in getting involved in the many facets of study and socialization the University of Saskatchewan offers. Creating connections and meaningful memories, to me, is central to a rich, fulfilling experience during my time here. Through the advantages this added security enables me with, I am able to engage in and embrace these wonderful opportunities more freely.
This reinforcement is of immeasurable worth. Donors make a difference by providing grounds for ambitious students as well as alleviating financial pressures from families, especially those who face difficult circumstances. This generosity is a stepping stone in the lives of students; for some, it is the difference between whether or not to pursue a higher level of education at all. With this in mind, to receive this selfless award is a blessing for which I am earnestly grateful. Being supported in the mission of enriching the lives of myself and others, within and beyond the scope of Eastern European culture, is a genuine privilege.
