Project Title:  Love + Litigation = Marriage: Canadian Same Sex Marriage and the International Implications (SSHRC 2019-2026)

Description:  This research involves locating and interviewing international, same-sex couples who came to Canada to marry between 2003-2010. During this brief window, a “Canadian marriage certificate” was a much sought after legal document, paving the way for relationship recognition, adoption rights, and potentially activism in various countries, including: the United States, England, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, Hong Kong, Israel, and Italy.  This transnational oral history research builds upon my previous research and interviews with queer community activists in western Canada.
