Comics and Illustration Workshop

In this course, students will learn drawing and illustration techniques with a specific focus on character design and rendering environments in a variety of stylistic forms. Students will be encouraged to draw inspiration from the world of comics, illustration, and animation, while developing their own individual styles and modes of expression.

- Intro to the course and warm-up exercises
- Character Studies: Drawing the human figure
- Creature design
- Character Studies: Facial expressions
- One, two, and three-point perspective
- Illustrating scenery using photo reference
- Building a composite design from multiple sources
- Drawing environments from the imagination
- Building a splash page
- Individual projects
