Esi Edugyan will visit the college on October 22, 2015 to participate in a series of events:

All events are FREE and open to everyone

We encourage professors and student groups to consider incorporating the book of the year into their courses and activities for the upcoming term. The book of the year is chosen to inspire discussion in disciplines throughout the college.

The College of Arts & Science Book Club is an annual event.

About the author

Esi Edugyan was born in Calgary and now lives in Victoria. Half-Blood Blues won the 2011 Scotiabank Giller Prize and was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, the Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction and the Rogers Writers Trust Fiction Prize.

About Half-Blood Blues

This celebrated novel centres on the music scene of Second World War-era Berlin and Paris, and the perils faced by an interracial jazz band amid the growing Nazi threat. Half-Blood Blues merges music and history in an exploration of racial identity, human dignity and reconciliation.
