Arthur Slade has mentored writers in the MFA in Writing since the program's beginnings. This much-sought-after mentor is being recognized by the University of Saskatchewan as one of their Alumni of Influence. It is a public way for the College of Arts & Science to recognize and celebrate their very distinguished alumni, signalling to today's students that they are part of a vibrant and accomplished college.

Slade is the author of eighteen novels for young readers including The Hunchback Assignments, which won the pretigious TD Canadian Children's Literature Award and Dush, winner of the Governor General's Award for Children's Literature. He also co-created the graphic novel Modo: Ember's End.

The MFA in Writing program would like to congratulate Slade and all the other recipients of this year's Alumni of Influence. They will be honoured at a gala ceremony in March 2018.
