MA Thesis

Thesis topic: The impact of family time and parent-child bonds on adult drug use.

Thesis Title: Social Bonds and Drug Use: Can Spending Time with Your Parents Keep you Out of Harm's Way?

This work is inspired by my interest in substance use and life course research, as well as a strong desire to inform future policies that can attend to the current overdose epidemic.

Bio:

I was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  In 2022 I received my Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Sociology (with High Honours), a certificate in Criminology and Addictions, and was awarded the University Medal in the Social Sciences. More recently,  I received the award for Most Outstanding Graduate in Sociology (2023) and was granted funding for my MA research through SSHRC (2024).

My research areas include demographic variations in media usage, beliefs, and behaviors; families; deviance and the life course; substance use and addictions.  Ultimately, my goal is to provide insight for sociological research and policies that will benefit vulnerable populations in North America.

I am currently serving as Secretary on the Sociology Graduate Student Association (SGSA).
