Crystal received her BA Honours degree in Sociology (with High Honours) from the University of Saskatchewan. Crystal is a mother, and is employed full-time external to her studies and university endeavours. 

Crystal’s current MA research focuses on the labour force participation of mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic in cross-border communities. Her thesis explores how work is negotiated for mothers in domestic and paid work and how working mothers negotiate their childcare in ever-shifting conditions to maintain participation in the labour force.
