Patricia Katz MCE
Patricia Katz is a watercolour and ink artist with over 20 years of experience. Pat's classes explore her passion for sketching and exploring wherever she travels. Pat considers herself an Appreciative Adventurer—someone who finds joy and beauty wherever she is and wherever she goes. In art, as in life, she shares the inspiring message that Life Is Good. Her greatest hope is that others feel heartened and uplifted in the company of her work.
Patricia Katz of Saskatoon began her adventures in watercolor in 2002. Brush, paint and paper quickly laid claim to her heart. Her artwork is known for its lively colors and lyrical lines. Sketchbook and paints are constant companions on Pat’s travels. She is a huge fan of sketching both indoors and outdoors – intrigued by whatever is in front of her at the moment from streetscapes and tablescapes to seascapes and landscapes.
Over the years, Pat has studied with a variety of watercolor artists including: Charles Reid, Judi Whitton, John Lovett, Karlyn Holman, Brenda Swenson, Sterling Edwards, Brian Atyeo, Barry Coombs, Robert Sinclair, Eleanor Lowden, Brent Laycock, Isabelle Hunt Johnson, Cecelia Jurgens, Anne McElroy, and Alison Montgomery. She has participated in three artists’ trips to Europe, painting in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
Pat published her paintings featuring the sights and scenes of her hometown in the best-selling book, Sketches of Saskatoon. She works and shows as a member of the Artists’ Workshop group in Saskatoon. Her paintings and prints can be found in private collections around the globe.
In addition to her love of painting, Pat has had a successful 35-year career as a national conference speaker and seminar leader and as the author of five best-selling books. She holds a Masters in Continuing Education and is an inductee of the Canadian Speaking Hall of Fame.

Pat on teaching:
As an instructor, I have been strongly influenced by my early work experience with the Saskatchewan 4-H Program whose motto is ‘Learn to Do By Doing’. My classes are a combination of theory and demonstrations regularly interspersed with opportunities for students to practice the concepts and techniques that are being covered. I believe that providing encouragement and specific feedback on assignments in a group setting allows students to learn from both their own and each other’s experiences
