Drawing, Painting and Media Exploration

Course Description
In this course, children will be offered many opportunities to explore their creativity and learn and develop new skills in the visual arts in a fun and supportive environment. Through a wide variety of media and tools, students will gain knowledge and skills in a way that engages, challenges, and inspires them. Topics will include:
- Exploring our materials
- Drawing: pencil, ink, charcoal, pastel, marker
- Painting: acrylic, watercolour
- Mixed media: paper, fabric, found objects, stamps, collage and montage
- Developing our composition
- Line, shape, value, and negative space
- Colour, form, space, and texture
- Subject matter, arrangement and intention
- Planning and presentation
All materials are included.
Please bring a water bottle and snack.
Art classes may involve materials that can stain or damage clothing. Work shirts are available, but students are encouraged to wear clothing suitable for messy activities.
