Course Description

In this course, students will learn drawing and illustration techniques with a specific focus on character design and rendering environments in a variety of stylistic forms. Students will be encouraged to draw inspiration from the world of comics, illustration, and animation, while developing their own individual styles and modes of expression.

  • Character Studies: Drawing the human figure
  • Creature design
  • Character Studies: Facial expressions
  • One, two, and three-point perspective
  • Illustrating scenery using photo reference
  • Building a composite design from multiple sources
  • Drawing environments from the imagination
  • Building a splash page
  • Individual projects
