Holiday Art Journaling Workshop

This workshop will give people the opportunity to reflect upon their year in a safe and supportive creative environment through reflective writing and art making. This course is for anyone who has the desire to tap into new creative channels without the pressure of producing a finished masterpiece; or start a creative momentum that can carry into the holidays. Students will be shown a variety of techniques, including ink and acrylic painting techniques, gel transfers, and collage. Along with visual art making students will be introduced to a selection of writing exercises that encourage personal reflection and empowerment. A significant amount of time is reserved for experimentation and play and sharing creative ideas with fellow students.

Supplies

  • 8.5 x 11 journal, your choice of style
  • Writing tool(s) of your choice
  • 8 oz Golden GAC 100
  • Small bottle of Elmer’s white glue
  • Set of acrylic paints in tubes
  • Set of acrylic brushes, assorted sizes
  • Small bottle of water-proof India ink
  • Bamboo brush
  • Package of rice paper
  • Quill nib pens, assorted sized nibs
  • 12 inch metal ruler
  • Small self-healing cutting mat
  • Utility knife
  • 9" x 11" pad of bristol board

 An assortment of materials will be provided for students to use, including magazines, recycled craft papers, stamps, and specialty cutting tools.
