2024 Community Arts and Artisanship Certificate Graduate

I grew up close to nature spending my days in Norwegian fields and forests. I would pick flowers, leaves and rocks, hunt for mushrooms, berries, and bugs, build snow forts, and pet any cat or dog that would let me.

This sense of childlike enchantment, playfulness, and adventure serves as inspiration for my art. I am drawn to bold colours and contrasts as they make me happy. Many artists and critics express disdain for decorative, beautiful art, but for me that is what brings joy and makes life worthwhile.

Although, I work mostly in acrylics, water colour and charcoal, I switch freely between several kinds of media depending on what inspires me. Anything goes, and sometimes I will use printmaking, embroidery, and things found in nature to try to capture the piece I have in my mind's eye.

The art I have chosen here shows these influences and represents the joy art brings me.
