Like the other science departments, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics belongs to the College of Arts and Science. Apart from offering programs leading to the above mentioned degrees, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics also offers programs leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees.

Scholarship and Awards
There are a variety of awards and scholarships available for students in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Students are also eligible for general College of Arts and Science scholarships and bursaries, and are encouraged to apply for external awards in addition to those provided by the university.

Entering Students
Award Value: Based on financial resources available, approximately $6,000
- Open to entering undergraduate students with the intent to major in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematical Physics, or Applied Mathematics.
- Selection is based on academic achievement and supplemental application material (reference letter, brief statement of no more than one page) indicating a strong interest in the Mathematical sciences.
To apply complete the Competitive Entrance Scholarships application form in PAWS. Supporting documents including reference letter and brief statement should be sent to awards.documents@usask.ca. Deadline: March 1st annually.
Award Listing: Harold Ross Saddington Memorial Award in Mathematics
Award Value: $1,000
Eligibility
Open to students graduating from a Saskatchewan high school who have the prerequisites to pursue a degree in Mathematics.
Preference to students who have taken Calculus 30, and who participate in extra-curricular activities involving mathematics.
Minimum high school average of 80%.

Annual deadline March 1st.
Award Listing: University of Saskatchewan Mathematics Award
Continuing Students
Award Value: Approximately $1,000
- Open to undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Science who are majoring in mathematics.
- To be eligible, students must demonstrate financial need; be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
- To apply, visit the Scholarships and Bursaries channel in PAWS to fill out the bursary application.
- Deadline October 1st, annually.
Award Value: Varies, approximately $500
- Open to full-time undergraduate students
- Selection is based on the score received in the William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition, held annually on the first Saturday of December
- No application is required
Award listing: Carman E. Miller Undergraduate Mathematics Competition Prize
Award Value: Varies, approximately $1,200
- Open to a student entering their third year of an honours degree in Mathematics or a combined honours degree in Mathematics and a second subject.
- Selection is based on academic achievement.
- No application is required.
Award Listing: Dr. Herman Ferns Scholarship
Award Value: Varies
- Open to full-time female undergraudate students entering 3rd or 4th year enrolled in an honours degree program in Mathematics, Statistics or Mathematical Physics. Students must have a minimum average of 80%, and be Canadian citizens.
- Selection is based on academic achievement.
- No application is required
Award Listing: The James G. and Edith Duthie Memorial Scholarship
Award Value: Varies, approximately $1,000
- Open to first and second year undergraduate students on a path toward a major in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematical Physics, or Applied Mathematics.
- Selection is based on academic achievement in MATH 163, MATH 176 and MATH 177.
To apply, submit a brief statement to asg.studentawards@usask.ca, describing plans to pursue studies in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematical Physics, or Applied Mathematics.
