Saskatoon Summer Symposium: Quantum Engineering meets Harmonic Analysis

Quantum Engineering promises novel technologies utilizing quantum effects, such as entanglement, superposition, and nonlocality. It should bring us a whole range of breakthrough capabilities beyond the reach of standard technologies, such as ultra-sensitive signal detection or ultra-resolved and fast medical imaging. The main obstacle to rapid progress is the impossibility of simulating sizable quantum-coherent structures on even the largest computers. Yet, in a number of special cases this barrier has been overcome by bringing to bear the soft power of Harmonic Analysis.



 Recently, it has been demonstrated that the wavelet and fractal techniques help glean insights into the nature of general quantum-coherent structures.

Symposium will bring into the focus synergies between these two dynamic areas of science and mathematics that have long co-existed but only rarely rendezvoused.
