Dr. Li Zong is Professor of Sociology at the University of Saskatchewan.  He servevs as China Advisor for the University and the Director of Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchenwan.  He is also Research Fellow of Institute for Empirical Social Science Research at Xi'an Jiaotong University; Adjunct Professor for Xi’an Jiaotong University, Lanzhou University, and Northwest University for Nationalities in China. His research projects have been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Council of Canada (SSHRC), the Prairie Metropolis Centre, the Federal Department of Canadian Heritage, and other funding agencies.

Some of his on-going research projects include occupational attainment and social mobility of professional Chinese immigrants in Canada, covert racism and racial inequality, and China’s economic reform and social change. He has co-authored a sociological book and published articles and reviews in referred journals on the issues of immigrants, new racism, multiculturalism, transnational Chinese business, civil society and social transformation, and race and ethnic relations. He has also contributed many chapters to published books.
