Arts & Science building ERPs

Please refer to list of facilities below which the College of Arts and Science utilize. You can access, read and download the Local Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for the buildings in the list. Each Local ERP provides preparedness and response information on what to do in the event of potential emergencies relating to work, academic and research activities happening in that particular building. All university personnel are expected to become familiar with the ERP(s) which are applicable to their particular work areas and activities.

Professor & Instructor Duty

All professors and instructors are expected to orient their students during general course orientation session about how to respond in the event of an emergency. This includes:

  • Reviewing the evacuation route from the course location to the appropriate marshalling area.
  • Knowing the nearest safe area or shelter in the event of severe weather or a building lockdown.
  • Responding appropriately in the event of a medical emergency.

To assist, many of the buildings listed below include a list of emergency response room or area postings, which are also available for download to add to course syllabuses and/or for providing a safety orientation to students. For additional assistance you may contact 306-966-8838 with questions, suggestions or concerns.

The Biology Building Local Emergency Response Plan (Local ERP) covers Department of Biology personnel in the teaching wing and the research wing in the Biology Building. The Biology Building Local ERP includes general emergency response, lockdown procedures, as well as the use of chemicals and use of biohazards in the Department of Biology for research and teaching. All personnel and students conducting working in the Biology Building must be aware of all general emergency response procedures, including emergency evacuation routes from their work locations, as well as emergency response procedures related to specific research hazards. As well, researchers must develop laboratory-specific ERPs if work or research is considered moderate to high risk.

Local Emergency Response Plan

The Campus Observatory Local Emergency Response Plan (Local ERP) includes general emergency response, such as responding to medical emergencies, emergency evacuation and lockdown procedures. All personnel and students conducting work in the Campus Observatory must be aware of applicable local emergency response procedures, including emergency evacuation routes from their work locations.

Note: the Campus Observatory is maintained by the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics.

Local Emergency Response Plan

The Education Building Local Emergency Response Plan (Local ERP) covers Department of Music, in the College of Arts and Science, as well as other personnel working in the Education Building, including the College of Education, the Education and Music Library, the College of Kinesiology, eMAP and the daycare. The Education Building Local ERP includes general emergency response as well as for the use of chemicals. All personnel and students conducting working in the Education Building must be aware of all general emergency response procedures, including emergency evacuation routes from their work locations, as well as emergency response procedures related to specific work hazards.

Local Emergency Response Plan

The Geology Building Local Emergency Response Plan (Local ERP) covers the Department of Geological Sciences, the Science Museum, the Science Library. The Department of Geological Sciences does have work, academic and research activities which involve the use of hazardous chemicals, and may also involve biological and/or radioactive hazards. Personnel engaging in these activities are expected to become familiar with the Local ERP as it relates to their work, as well as develop laboratory-specific ERPs if work or research is considered moderate to high risk. All personnel and students working in the Geology Building must be aware of all applicable emergency response procedures including emergency evacuation routes from their work locations and local lockdown procedures.

Local Emergency Response Plan

The Kirk Hall Local Emergency Response Plan (Local ERP) covers the Department of Geography and Planning and the Department of Native Studies, as well as all other occupants of Kirk Hall. The Kirk Hall Local ERP includes general emergency response, lockdown procedures, as well as the use of chemicals in the Department of Geography and Planning. All personnel and students conducting working in the Kirk Hall must be aware of applicable local emergency response procedures, including emergency evacuation routes from their work locations and local lockdown procedures.

Local Emergency Response Plan

The McLean Hall Local Emergency Response Plan (Local ERP) covers the Department of Mathematics and other groups with offices in McLean Hall. The Mclean Hall Local ERP includes general emergency response, such as responding to medical emergencies, emergency evacuation and lockdown procedures. All personnel and students conducting working in McLean Hall must be aware of applicable local emergency response procedures, including emergency evacuation routes from their work locations.

Local Emergency Response Plan

The Mitchell Building Local Emergency Response Plan (Local ERP) covers the Department of Drama and Student Information Systems. The Mitchell Building Local ERP includes general emergency response, lockdown procedures, as well as the use of chemicals in the Department of Drama for creative set, prop and wardrobe design. All personnel and students conducting working in the Mitchell Building must be aware of applicable local emergency response procedures, including emergency evacuation routes from their work locations.

Local Emergency Response Plan

The Physics Building does have work, academic and research activities happening which use hazardous chemicals, and present radioactive hazards. Personnel engaging in these activities are expected to become familiar with the Building Local ERP as it relates to their work, as well as develop laboratory-specific ERPs if work or research is considered moderate to high risk. All personnel and students working in moderate to high risk areas must be aware of all applicable emergency response procedures. Further, there are low and moderate risk hazards relating to custodial services, which is covered in another work-specific ERP.
