Cheyenne Rain LeGrande ᑭᒥᐊᐧᐣ Artist Talk

This artist talk with Cheyenne Rain LeGrande ᑭᒥᐊᐧᐣ is co-presented alongside AKA Artist-run Centre. The talk will take place between 12:30-1:30pm, at the University of Saskatchewan Murray Room 161. 

This talk introduces the breadth of LeGrande’s practice, and offers visitors an insight to her upcoming exhibition, Mullyanne Nîmito, which opens Friday, January 19th at AKA Artist-run Centre!

About the Artist

Cheyenne Rain LeGrande ᑭᒥᐊᐧᐣ is a Nehiyaw Isko artist, from Bigstone Cree Nation. She currently resides in Amiskwaciy Waskahikan also known as Edmonton, Alberta. Her work often explores shared knowledge and traditional practices. Through the use of her body and language, she speaks to the past, present and future. She recently received the Salt Spring National Art Prize( People’s Choice) and the Edmonton Artists Trust Fund Award. Cheyenne’s work is rooted in the strength to feel, express and heal. Bringing her ancestors with her, she moves through installation, photography, fashion, video, sound, and performance art. 

AKA Artist-run Centre is a space for emergent practices for artists at any stage of their careers, providing space and support for critical, safe, and open exchange.

Accessing the Event

When entering the main entrance of the Murray Library, there will be a staircase and elevators to your left. Go to the first floor. Once on the first floor, turn left and walk through the Link Gallery. The room 161 will be the first room on your right; it has a glass door and large windows.
