Holy Cross High School: Homeland

Artwork by students from Holy Cross and Bishop James Mahoney High Schools January 13 – 17, 2020

Grade 11 and 12 High School Students exploring Indigenous Reconciliation and Understanding Through Art

Students from both Holy Cross High School and Bishop James Mahoney have been working with artist, Leah Dorian, to explore the power of Indigenous Knowledge and the connection this has to the land around Saskatoon. Students have been going on excursions and learning from Leah and Indigenous Elders about the connection of Indigenous people to the land. Students have sketched, painted, sculpted, photographed and observed the power of the land. As young immigrants and settlers they are appreciating and experiencing Indigenous knowledge and the energy the land has as a way of developing deeper peace and inner connections with the land and each other.
