Blishen-Richmond Award recipient of her graduating class, and her honours thesis explored the medicalization and depoliticization of suicide among vulnerable populations.

Malaya received both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Regina in Social Work. During her undergraduate studies she traveled and completed her practicums in Soshanguve, South Africa and Penang, Malaysia.
Crystal received her Bachelor’s Honours Degree in Sociology (with High Honours) from the University of Saskatchewan.
