Kamskénow Science and Math Program

Application {{forminfo.appyear}}

Kamskénow (from a Cree word meaning 'to find - to learn') provides fun, hands-on science and mathematics activities to grades 4-11 students in Community Schools in Saskatoon. These activities are led by a pair of knowledgeable graduate or senior undergraduate students from the University of Saskatchewan.

Over the span of 13 weeks, the Kamskénow instructors travel to the same school and classroom each week for this 13 week program. Activities cover a variety of science disciplines. The first 12 weekly classroom sessions are 60-90 minutes long. The last session is a two-hour visit to the University of Saskatchewan campus so your students can see first-hand the scientists, laboratories, the departments and the research being undertaken in the subjects they have studied.

Please note 2020/2021 Kamskénow will align with government regulations minimizing the spread of COVID-19. As a result we are not able to finalize details of the 2020/2021 program at this time; this may mean the program will be in the form of: individual kits for students to take home, classroom kits and connecting with instructors virtually, or an 11-week program with instructors visiting the classroom weekly. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility given the current pandemic and our joint efforts to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

There will be different activities offered in each level of programming. The two semesters in {{forminfo.appyear}} Kamskénow are tentatively: Term 1: {{forminfo.term1dates}} and Term 2: {{forminfo.term2dates}}.
