About Alison

Alison lives and works in Saskatoon and has been painting in watercolour for almost 40 years. As an art educator (B.Ed '84, M.Ed '17) and practicing artist, she provides practical advice and helpful feedback, and encourages students to share knowledge, exchange understandings, and explore new ideas.

What is your favourite medium?

My medium is watercolour, and I am inspired by natural forms, vivid colour, and interesting composition.

Do you have a childhood memory of art?

Yes, when I would get a paint by number set for Christmas: Opening the little plastic tubs of oil paint and then painting all day and the next until it was finished.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out

Just paint. (Or draw, or sculpt...) Whatever it is that you want to do, the best way to learn about it is by doing. There are no mistakes, just learning experiences.
