Stained Glass I: Basic Foil Techniques

Prerequisite: None

Learn how to work in copper foil tape to make a piece of glass art. This method allows for strong dimensional work to give your art new possibilities.

Weekend Schedule

Friday 6:30-8:30pm

  • Selecting and copying a pattern
  • Cutting the pattern out of Bristol board
  • Choosing your glass colours

Saturday 9am-5pm

  • Cutting practice with clear class
  • Cutting the pattern pieces in coloured glass
  • Laying out the pattern
  • Grinding and fitting the glass

Sunday 9am-3pm

  • Finishing Saturday’s work
  • Soldering 

Supplies

The materials fee includes glass and other materials and the use of tools in the workshop. Students should also bring:

  • One lightweight poster board 
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • 12 or 18 inch ruler
  • Sharpie fine tip black marker
  • Hammer
  • Rags
  • Safety glasses
  • Rubber gloves
