Ages 6-8: The Art of Science

Science, technology, and art are uniquely intersecting disciplines. This is a young artists course on the union of science and creative expression. Themes will include topics in a variety of scientific fields, including elements of mathematics, chemistry, physiology, and physics. Each age-appropriate scientific theme will be examined through a process of creative discovery which will include painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media projects. Students will simultaneously develop greater scientific understanding and expanded artistic skills in a supportive environment, with an emphasis on curiosity and enjoyment.

Some topics addressed will be:

  • Fractal geometry in nature
  • Architectural physics
  • Chemical and physical properties of materials
  • Neurology and perception
  • Psychology of colour and shape
