Watercolour I: Basic Techniques and Fundamentals

In this introduction to watercolour painting, students will have fun beginning to learn the rules, so as to learn how to break the rules if they choose. Students will learn techniques and do studies each week, then there will be time to work on their own images from chosen photos with some guidance from the instructor.

Supplies

  • Watercolor paper
  • Printer (regular) paper
  • watercolors: cadmium yellow, lemon yellow, thalo blue, ultramarine blue, cadmium red, alizarin crimson plus any other colours you like.
  • Masking tape
  • Small viewfinder or a cut matt approximately 5" x 7"
  • Small container of gesso
  • A couple of cheap canvasses
  • Photos
  • Water
  • Paper towel
  • Mixing plate
