Sculpture I: Face Elements

Instructor: Adrian Golban
Tuesdays 1-4pm
8 weeks: July 6 to August 24
Location: Online
$300 + $60 for facial elements molds
Prerequisite: None

Students will explore the principles and visual elements of sculpture through the elements of the face. Working in plasticine or clay, we will learn how to measure and replicate the ear, mouth/nose, and eye, the process of building the larger shapes first and then the details, and the ways in which these can be altered and exaggerated to capture expressions. We will then work from the skull to understand the anatomy of the face, and the proportions and relationships between the face elements.

Sculpture II: Human Portraits

Instructor: Adrian Golban
Tuesdays 1-4pm
8 weeks: July 6 to August 24
Location: Online
$300 (supplies not included)
Prerequisite: Sculpture I or equivalent experience

This course will focus on creating a 3-dimensional portrait of oneself, a friend or family member. Students will build an armature, review, practice and use measurements and proportions to replicate the human head (including skull, muscles, skin & hair elements). There is continued and continuous development of additive sculpture skills with emphasis on observing, measuring, and working from the larger shape to the details. Work will be done in plasticine or clay.

Sculpture II: Special Projects

Instructor: Adrian Golban

Ages 12-17: Exploring Sculpture

Instructor: Adrian Golban
Tuesdays 1-4pm
8 weeks: July 6 to August 24
Location: Online
$300 (supplies not included)
Prerequisite: None

Students will focus on building new skills and exploring the principles and visual elements of sculpture. Working in clay, we will learn how to measure and replicate, build larger shapes first and then details, ways in which these can be altered and exaggerated, and developing personal style.

Supplies

The three facial elements molds (ear, eye, and mouth + nose) students will work from are purchased with registration for Sculpture I.

All students will also need to purchase either plasticine or clay. Plasticine will not dry out, doesn't need to be fired, and can be used to make a mold. Clay tends to dry out, it will need to be fired which sometimes can lead to cracking, but it is more affordable.

If you have any questions, please contact us and Adrian will be happy to advise.
