Spring Term: WGST 398.3 Gender, Diversity and Professional Life

Course Description:
Students will consider how their chosen or aspirational career pathways participate in ongoing colonialist state building and neoliberal capitalist expansion. They will also explore potentials within and across their chosen field/s to support just social relations, including with other species. Students will examine local and global histories of violence as organized through various forms of labour, whether valued, devalued, exploited, conscripted to prevailing agendas or de/regulated in contemporary local, national and transnational contexts. They will consider how selected current events emerge through human labour as a mechanism for consolidating dominant systems and their many alternatives.
