Title:

Abscisic Acid Chemistry: Agonists,  Antagonists and Imaging Agents

Abstract:

Abscisic acid (ABA) is a sesquiterpene plant signaling molecule that regulates many processes of plant growth and development as well as plant responses to abiotic stresses.  This talk will present three collaborative research projects currently underway: 1) Development and application of long-lived ABA analogs; 2) Imaging of ABA flow in living plants; 3) synthesis and biological activity of antagonists of ABA.  The overall objectives of this research are to develop research tools for dissecting ABA action in plants and discovering leads for plant growth regulator development.
