Title: Patent Law Primer for Scientists
The Canadian patent system and the major requirements for patentability will be discussed. Some examples of chemical and pharmaceutical based patents and litigation thereof that involve issues related to patentability will be provided during the discussion. A brief discussion on Saskatchewan's new "patent box" legislation and how companies may be able to take advantage of reduced corporate income tax rates on income earned through commercialization of “exceptional innovations" will also be provided.
