Course Offerings

It should be noted that not all of the graduate courses are offered in any one year. They usually take the form of small reading or tutorial groups. A student may be encouraged to take a graduate course from outside the Department, e.g., geography, geology, etc., if it fits into his/her research program. This course will count toward the graduate course credit.

Under special circumstances, and with Departmental permission, a graduate student may take a senior undergraduate course (3 c.u.) for graduate credit. Such permission is granted only if it can be demonstrated that the undergraduate course in question fits into the student's program and that the student has not taken a similar course as an undergraduate. Extra assignments are required (in addition to the normal course requirements) of a graduate student.
