Book Launch: dee Hobsbawn-Smith

MFA in Writing student dee Hobsbawn-Smith will launch her first collection of poetry, Wildness Rushing In, as part of the Hagios Press Spring 2014 Titles event at McNally Robinson on May 14 at 7 p.m.  Other titles include: Laying the Children’s Ghosts to Rest: Canada’s Home Children in the West by Sean Arthur Joyce and Downstream: Bestemor & Me by Vangie Bergum.

In this amazing first collection of poetry, dee Hobsbawn-Smith displays a skill and passion for capturing and creating experience through language. At once sensory, contemplative, compassionate and packed full of startling insights, Wildness Rushing In is an exciting and accomplished poetic debut. dee Hobsbawn-Smith is an award winning freelance food writer and culinary educator. Between 2001 and 2008, she wrote a weekly column, “The Curious Cook” in the Calgary Herald. Hobsbawn-Smith is the author of 6 books, the most recent of which is Foodshed: An Edible Alberta Alphabet. She lives on a farm just outside Saskatoon with fellow author Dave Margoshes, where she is currently earning her MFA in writing at the University of Saskatchewan.
