  • Open to the student with the highest averages when applying for admission to the honours program. Honours program applications are available through the Undergraduate Student Office, due May 31st each year.

German Language Awards

Award Value: $1,200

  • Open to undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in the College of Arts and Science who have taken German classes.
  • To apply, complete the online application in the Scholarships and Bursaries channel in PAWS.
  • Selection is based on financial need and academic ability in the study of German Language.
  • Deadline: April 30, annually.

Award Listing: Linda Anstensen Bursary

Award Value: $500

  • Open to full-time undergraduate or graduate students who have completed at least one year of study in an undergraduate program, and at least 6 credit units in a German course.
  • To apply, submit a statement of no more than two pages to asg.studentawards@usask.ca outlining goals for studying the German language.
  • Selection is based on academic achievement and the merits of the submitted document.
  • Deadline: April 30, annually.

Spanish Language Awards

Award Value: $500

  • Open to undergraduate students studying Spanish languages courses in the Department of Languages, LIteratures & Cultural studies who are entering their 4th year of study. 
  • Awarded to the student who has shown the most progress/improvement during their study of the Spanish Language, as determined by the Award Committee. 
  • No application is required.

Award Value: $100

  • Awarded to the student receiving the highest grade in Spanish 114/117.
  • No application required.

Ukrainian Language Awards

Award Value: varies, minimum value of $1,000

  • This scholarship is open to the following students:
    • Full-time graduate students researching Slovak communities in Saskatchewan, or people of Slovak ancestry in Saskatchewan.
    • Full-time graduate students conducting thesis research specializing in languages, literatures, history, or ethnography of Eastern Europe.
    • Full-time undergraduate or graduate students taking an academic program in East-European studies (e.g. a language immersion program) in another University for credit toward a U of S degree.
  • Selection is based on academic achievement and the strength of the applications.
  • To apply, send a statement of no more than one page, describing research and study in the relevant areas, to asg.studentawards@usask.ca
  • Deadline: May 31, annually.
