Drawing from forty years of teaching in English and Women's Studies, Helen Hoy reflects on past and future developments in her disciplines, especially in the areas of race, gender, and sexuality. She shares disturbing bits of institutional history and offers tips for surviving the academic journey. 

Helen Hoy is Professor Emerita at the University of Guelph and author of How Should I Read These? Native Women Writers in Canada (2001).
