Leslie Baker (PHD)
A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Leslie began her PhD at University of Saskatchewan in 2008 after completing her Masters in History at Dalhousie University, Halifax following an honors degree from Mount St. Vincent University, Halifax.
With a background in early modern European intellectual and gender history Leslie has recently made the leap to twentieth century medical history. Her proposed dissertation topic follows her new interests as she plans to explore the twentieth century eugenics policies in Nova Scotia through the multiple lenses of class and gender and examine how these categories impacted the decision to pursue institutionalization rather than sterilization in the province.

Mathew Mossey (MA)
Having spent the better part of the decade at the University of Alberta I am thrilled to begin my Masters at the University of Saskatchewan. The History of Medicine is an area I first became interested in while working towards my B.A, and I find it especially appealing because of the fact that my background in science (B.Sc) compliments my understanding of the subject.
When I am not at school, I am usually at a pool coaching. Having been a competitive swimmer for almost ten years I made a smooth transition to the pool deck and have enjoyed coaching in the Edmonton area for the past eight years. I am looking forward to my new position with the Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club and hope to be an important part of their organization.
