Writers Honoured

Three Saskatchewan writers with connections to the department of English have been recently honoured.

Sharon Butala and Lorna Crozier are finalists for the 2017 Governor General’s Literary Awards; see http://artsandscience.usask.ca/news/articles/1451/Alumna_authors_shortlisted_for_Governor_General_s_Awards. Butala is nominated in the nonfiction category for Where I Live Now: A Journey through Love and Loss to Healing and Hope, a memoir of her process of grieving and healing following the loss of her husband. Crozier, who taught creative writing in our department for a number of years, is nominated in the poetry category for What the Soul Doesn’t Want, a collection of poems about aging and grief.
