Saskatoon Nature Society - Monthly Speaker Series

The Saskatoon Nature Society welcomes members and nonmembers to their September monthly meeting Thursday, September 21 at 7:30 pm in the Biology lecture theatre Rm 106 (near the big dinosaurs) U of S campus.

This month’s speaker is Elaine Wheaton. Elaine is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Geography and Planning. Her research interests include climate change, its impacts, hazards and risks, our vulnerability to these and possible adaptations. She was awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Certificate for substantial contributions to the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the Wolbeer Award for contributions to water resources research and the YWCA Science and Technology Award. She will go on to talk about the implications for plants, insects, agriculture and water resources, and end by suggesting what action we should take.
